Inspired by nature & memories
For this new collection I felt inspired by the majestic beauty of nature and the memories of my home country, Switzerland. Forests, rivers and mountains as the title suggests was the surrounding I grew up around. Crisp and clean air, blue skies and clear water. At least that is how I picture it in my mind’s eye now.
Now I live on the South Coast of England and I love to be by the seaside. But the impressions mountains have imprinted on me will never leave me. Maybe you know this feeling too. Homesickness, wanderlust or just a desire to experience something new. It might be for certain places you have visited or ones you would really like to go and see in real life. It is a yearning and a longing, full of excitement and joyful anticipation. Vorfreude.
The memories of places can be so strong like we bottled the essence of them in our memory bank. Sometimes they might be more grand than in real life, but sometimes it becomes so much more beautiful because of that layer of sentiment and nostalgia connected to it.
Sketches
A large part of the collection will feature rings carved out of wax and some uniquely engraved pendants. I love how the lost wax method allows for more organic shapes to be made in silver. And the technique of wax carving for jewellery dates back to the Egyptian times. On my instagram I share more about the process.
